Description of Species Large climber with straight or recurved prickles; branchlets fulvous hairy. Stipules large, persistent, compound or pinnatifid, foliaceous; rachis prickly; pinnae 6-8-pairs; leaflets ca. 8 pairs, lanceolate, elliptic, oblong or ovate-oblong, 1.2-3 ×1.2-1.6 cm, obtuse or acute, mucronate, glabrous or pubescent beneath, base rounded to cuneate; petiolule ca. 1 mm. Flowers yellow, ca 1.8 cm across, in simple, usually supra-axillary, very elongate racemes; the lower flowers only fertile; bracts long linear, reflexed over the buds, 1.5-1.8 cm long, deciduous. Petals small, erect, marked with orange. Pods broadly oblong, 5-7.5 × 4 cm, prickly, dehiscent, 1-2-seeded. Seeds large, round, 1.8 cm diam., grey; testa very hard.
