Description of Species |
Deciduous trees, to 30 m high. Bark thick, dark grey. Leaves alternate, crowded towards the end of branches, elliptic – obovate, 9.8 – 28 × 3.5 – 14 cm, glabrous when mature, coriaceous, entire, undulate, subacute or acuminate, base narrow, often unequal. Petioles to 4 cm long. Flowers pale greenish yellow, sessile, in solitary or extra axillary, 7 – 20 cm long spikes. Clayx teeth triangular, woolly inside. Stamens much exserted. Drupes obovoid, grey – velvety, 2.5 – 3.5 cm long, obscurely angled when dry, containing large stone |
