Description of Species Evergreen, erect, bushy-diffused shrubs, with rigid, spreading branches. Bark grayish-white. Spines 2-5 cm long, straight or forked, usually at the base of branches. Leaves, elliptic or ovate to sub orbicular, 1.2-3.5 × 0.8-2.2 cm, acute or mucronate. Flowers white, fragrant, in few-flowered corymbose cymes. Calyx teeth 5, lanceolate, ciliate. Corolla tube cylindrical. Ovary 2-celled. Berries subglobose or elliptic, 0.6-1 cm long, purplish-black, juicy when ripe.
