Evergreen shrubs, up to to 2.5 m high. Leaves opposite, ovate, shortly acuminate, rounded or subcordate base, crenate – dentate, hairy. Flower terminal, subcorymbose, white with a red spot in centre, in large, lax, pubescent – panicles. Calyx deeply 5 – partite, pubescent, segments lanceolate, subacute. Corolla tube cylindrical, lobes elliptic, acute. Fruits drupe, subglobose, black, seated on much enlarged copular, bright – red calyx. |
