Small trees about 50-90 ft
tall. Bark dark to grayish
brown, scaly fissured.
Young parts densely brown
tomentose, glabrous when
mature, but young leaves
glabrous. Leaves simple,
alternate, oblong-elliptic,
elliptic-obovate, base
obtuse or rounded, margin
entire, apex obtuse, acute to
shallow mucronate at the
tip, petiole pubescent,
furrowed, stipules pilose,
without stipular scars.
Flowers bisexual, solitary,
fragrant, white or cream
colored. Perianth parts
about 9-12, glabrous,
obovate-oblong, apex
acute, across, petals almost
the same size. Stamens
numerous, crimson red
colored. Gynoecium
