Habit Tree Fruit Details Fruiting receptacle cone like about 5-10 cm long, brown with bright red kidney shaped seeds. Carpels, ovoid, compressed, rounded near the base, with beaks near at the apex about 3-5 mm long, seeds 2, compressed, ovoid, aril red, about 1.4-0.6 cm across, rounded at the base.

Description of Species Small trees about 50-90 ft tall. Bark dark to grayish brown, scaly fissured. Young parts densely brown tomentose, glabrous when mature, but young leaves glabrous. Leaves simple, alternate, oblong-elliptic, elliptic-obovate, base obtuse or rounded, margin entire, apex obtuse, acute to shallow mucronate at the tip, petiole pubescent, furrowed, stipules pilose, without stipular scars. Flowers bisexual, solitary, fragrant, white or cream colored. Perianth parts about 9-12, glabrous, obovate-oblong, apex acute, across, petals almost the same size. Stamens numerous, crimson red colored. Gynoecium obovoid or ellipsoid, densely long tomentose. Fruiting receptacle cone like brown with bright red kidney shaped seeds. Carpels, ovoid, compressed.
