Tree, erect, sturdy trunks with numerous adventitious lateral branches or bulbils, apex tomentose; bark gray-black, scaly. Leaves one pinnate, petiole with 6-18 spines along each side; leaf blade oblong- or elliptic-lanceolate, recurved, leaflets up to 110 pairs, horizontally inserted, leathery, sparsely pubescent, apex acuminate.
