Description of Species |
Deciduous shrubs or small trees, with quadrangular branches. Leaves simple ovate or rhomboid, 6.5-14 x 3.5-8 cm, acute or acuminate, entire or with few distinct teeth, scabrous, coriaceous. Flowers white with pale or orange-mauve base, fragrant, 1.2-2.4 cm across, in pedunculate heads, disposed in axillary or terminal trichotomous cymes. Calyx tube short, about 3-4 mm long; minutely toothed. Corolla tube 8-14 mm long, cylindrical, orange-red or mauve coloured; lobes 5-8. Anthers 2, subsessile. Ovary 2-celled. Capsule orbicular, compressed, chartaceous, 2-celled, light brown. |
