Evergreen or sub deciduous shrubs, 1.5 – 4 m high; branches spreading; bark red – brown, smooth. Leaves opposite, shortly petiolate, lanceolate or oblong – lanceolate, entire, base rounded, apex acuminate, pubescent on nerves beneath. Flowers orange – red, 1 – 1.5 cm long, clustered, in short panicled axillary cymes. Calyx tubular, scarlet, slightly curved widened above the month.
